T1 robinia: Reduce overhanging limbs by approximately 2 m, pruning back close to the boundary to suitable growth points, to provide appropriate clearance from the neighbouring property.
The tree is a mature Holm Oak in my back garden. My arboricultural adviser has identified a split in the trunk and recommends the tree is felled as soon as possible as it is in danger of falling on my neighbour's garage (with flat above).

Trees 1 & 2: Horse chestnuts. The two mature horse chestnuts, approximately 24m in height, contain included unions arising from historic pollard points at approximately 15m. Such unions represent recognised structural weaknesses, with Smiley (2003) demonstrating significantly reduced attachment strength where included bark is present. Subsequent biomechanical research by Kane et al. (2008) and Slater (2010?present) further supports the management of structurally compromised unions through appropriate load reduction. A crown reduction of approximately 4?5m is therefore proposed to reduce sail area and bending moments acting upon these unions, materially reducing the likelihood of structural failure whilst retaining both trees, their principal framework and their substantial amenity value. The presence of both trees growing together means that the treatment which is more applicable for tree 1, must equally be applied to tree 2 in order to prevent changes in oscillation through the respective canopies and future upper canopy limb failure.
The tree is a small domestic apple tree in the rear garden and is no longer required. It has limited amenity value due to it's position within the private rear garden and is not visible from the public highway. Removal is proposed to allow the garden to be redesigned and make better use of available space.

Magnolia T1 Crown lift by removing the overhanging lateral branches above the Chesil Theatre. Carry out a light crown reduction on the garden side, reducing approximately 0.5-1 metre back to suitable growth points to maintain a natural shape. Holly T2 Dismantle the dead stem to ground level. Reduce the remaining holly back to the previous pollard points and reshape to form a balanced crown.
Norway Maple (Acer Platanoides), Tag No. 2379 (Tree does not have a TPO according to Winchester Council TPO map) The client's patio is unusable due to the amount of bird droppings (See attachments 'Photo 1' & 'Photo 2') coming from birds perching in the overhanging tree. The tree overhangs the client's boundary line by approximately four meters and the number of birds has significantly increased since the adjacent tree; another Norway Maple (Tag No. 2380) of similar size was removed in December 2025. My client has also sent an email at the end of June to both the property management company and a member of the Residents Association to inform of the intended works but has had no reply. The scope of works is to reduce the east south-eastern side by approximately 2-3m back to towards the boundary line, targeting horizontal branches that birds are likely to sit on, while leaving angled/diagonal branches to maintain the natural shape of the tree.

T1- Magnolia grandiflora - Fell to ground level. Alternative management options have been considered but are not suitable due to the tree's condition and/or the management objectives. Removal to ground level is considered the most appropriate course of action.

The removal of the dead codominant stem on T2 Holly is required to eliminate a potential hazard and prevent further decline or structural weakness within the tree. Deadwood can pose a risk of falling and may also contribute to decay spreading into the remaining live structure if not addressed. It is proposed to remove the dead codominant stem in its entirety. The remaining stem will then be reduced in height by approximately 2 metres, pruning back to suitable growth points to maintain the tree?s health and structural integrity. Additionally, the lateral branches will be pruned to create a more uniform and balanced shape, enhancing both the tree's appearance and long-term stability.
